Terms in this definition
- Azure CLI
Command-line tool for managing Azure that runs on any platform; examples include
az login,az storage queueandaz policy state trigger-scan. - AKS
Short for Azure Kubernetes Service, a managed Kubernetes offering that gives full control of clusters and node pools. Scaling uses the cluster autoscaler and Horizontal Pod Autoscaler; user sign-in is not built in.
- kubectl
Command-line tool for working with workloads in a Kubernetes cluster, installed by running
az aks install-cli. Cluster-level AKS settings like the cluster autoscaler are set through Azure instead. - CRUD
Shorthand for create, read, update and delete, the four basic things you do with data. Data-plane roles in Azure Cosmos DB, for instance, authorise those operations on items.
- Autoscaling
A classic compute option where you give a minimum and maximum worker count and Azure Databricks adjusts the number of workers within that range to match the load.

az aks createoraz aks updatethat links a container registry to an AKS cluster by assigning AcrPull to the kubelet identity, so nodes can pull its images. - AKS-ACR integration
Running az aks create or az aks update with --attach-acr grants AcrPull to a cluster's kubelet managed identity, letting nodes fetch images with no pull secrets. Registries using ABAC can't use this; grant Container Registry Repository Reader manually there.
- kubelogin
Plug-in that supplies credentials to kubectl by performing the Microsoft Entra sign-in for AKS. Running
az aks install-cliinstalls it.
