Also called SR-IOV.

Terms in this definition
- Capability
Something that a person, organisation or system is able to do.
- CPU
The processor that runs a VM's workload (central processing unit); while B-series VMs run under their baseline, they accumulate CPU credits.
- HPC
Large-scale parallel computation, which Azure serves through CycleCloud or Azure Batch and VM sizes capable of RDMA.
- RDMA
Short for remote direct memory access: the lowest-latency networking in Azure, running over InfiniBand on HPC VM sizes whose names include an "r".
Related terms
- DS series
Inexpensive general-purpose VM sizes with Accelerated Networking and Premium Storage support, a good match for workloads like SQL Server.
- GPU partitioning
A Hyper-V capability that lets several virtual machines share one physical graphics card through SR-IOV. Windows Server 2025 added live migration for virtual machines with GPU partitions.
