Related terms
- Business View category
Top-level division in Business View, for instance Purpose or Department, under which one or more groups live. Each category is either fixed or updated automatically.
- CMDB
External database where IT assets are recorded. If your organisation treats it as authoritative, you can import Business View groups from an exported file instead of building them by hand.
- Global exclusion rule
Filter defined separately for each kind of object on Veeam ONE's Business View settings tab. Whatever satisfies it is kept out of all categories and groups.
- Grouping expression
Business View approach where one expression is worked out per object and its results become the groups, so membership updates by itself. Sorting VMs by their guest OS name is a typical use.
- Manual categorisation
Choosing objects by hand from the desktop client's Business View node and putting them in groups belonging to static categories. Their names are stored as a Manual selection condition, and nothing changes until someone edits it.
- MoRef
In a Business View CSV file, this field identifies each object. vSphere items use VMware's reference number; Hyper-V items use their ID or UUID.
- Multiple-condition categorisation
Business View method giving each group its own set of property conditions, linked by AND or OR. Members are recalculated at every data collection, so the groups stay dynamic.
- Single-parameter categorisation
Groups objects in Business View by one property, for example power state, creating a separate dynamic group for every distinct value that the hypervisor or backup server reports.
