An independent study guide for Veeam Certified Engineer+ (VMCE+) v13: Book 2 of 3, Veeam ONE · by Tony Rough
Know which Veeam ONE view, alarm, report or dashboard answers the question, and why.
Due on Amazon in January 2027, in Kindle and paperback editions.
This independent study guide covers Veeam ONE 13, written from Veeam's own version 13 documentation. It is book 2 of a set of three that follows the three courses required for the Veeam Certified Engineer+ (VMCE+) v13 certification; book 1 covers Veeam Backup & Replication 13 and book 3 Veeam Recovery Orchestrator.
Ten chapters, each one readable on its own:
There are no exam questions in this book, and it is not Veeam training material. It explains the knowledge the course and the exam look for, so you can reason through situations you have never seen and bring the same judgement to a real Veeam estate.
Written by Tony Rough, a cloud architect with over twenty years in IT infrastructure.

Veeam's engineer certification for the Veeam Data Platform v13. It requires Veeam's three courses (Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator) before the proctored exam; this set has one book per course. The series covers every exam it needs:

The opening of chapter 1 · Chapter 1: Veeam ONE in the Veeam Data Platform
Veeam ONE is the monitoring, reporting and analytics product of the Veeam Data Platform. It watches the backup infrastructure (Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365) and the virtual infrastructure those products protect (VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Director and Microsoft Hyper-V), raises alarms, and turns the collected history into dashboards and reports. This chapter maps what Veeam ONE covers, which components do the work, how the product is reached, how it can be deployed, and what changed in version 13. Chapter 2, “Planning and deploying Veeam ONE”, turns this map into an installation plan.
A comparison table · Chapter 1: Veeam ONE in the Veeam Data Platform · What Veeam ONE monitors and reports on
The supported platform list is short, and the version rule for Veeam Backup & Replication is a frequent source of failed connections.
| Platform | Supported in Veeam ONE 13 (User Guide) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Veeam Backup & Replication and Enterprise Manager | 13 (recommended); 12 or later builds (compatible) | A Veeam Backup & Replication version higher than the Veeam ONE version cannot be added |
| Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 | 7 or later builds; 8 or later builds | License compatibility and REST API requirements must be met first |
| VMware vSphere | vSphere 7.0 (up to Update 3), 8.0 (up to Update 3), 9.x (up to 9.1); VMware Cloud on AWS | Only English-language VMware infrastructures; free ESXi supported |
| vCenter Server | 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 | Optional: standalone ESXi hosts are fully supported |
| VMware Cloud Director | 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 | Optional, but recommended to register when present |
| Microsoft Hyper-V | Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 and Azure Stack HCI; free Hyper-V Server supported | SAC releases supported |
| Microsoft SCVMM | 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 | Optional: adding Hyper-V through SCVMM is not mandatory |
A common trap · Chapter 1: Veeam ONE in the Veeam Data Platform · What Veeam ONE monitors and reports on
Common trap: Assuming an older Veeam ONE can monitor a newer backup server - Veeam ONE is not compatible with Veeam Backup & Replication versions higher than its own; the documentation’s example is that Veeam Backup & Replication 13 cannot be added to Veeam ONE 12.3. Upgrade Veeam ONE first.

Some sections of the book, free to read online:
Which Veeam ONE tasks belong in the Windows Client and which in the browser-based Web Client.
How Veeam ONE alarm rules are built, linked and timed, and how severities are assigned.
Suppression, silence mode, summary notifications and rule timing to cut unwanted Veeam ONE alerts.
Single-parameter, multiple-condition, grouping expression, import or manual: which Business View method fits.
Which Veeam ONE reports use the new v13 engine and which still use the legacy engine and SSRS.
