Each book explains Dapr in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Container
Something that groups data. Blob Storage containers sit inside a storage account and hold blobs much as folders hold files; Cosmos DB containers hold items and set the scope for partitioning and throughput.
- AKS
Short for Azure Kubernetes Service, a managed Kubernetes offering that gives full control of clusters and node pools. Scaling uses the cluster autoscaler and Horizontal Pod Autoscaler; user sign-in is not built in.
- LIKE
Compares strings with a pattern that can contain the % and _ wildcards. Because it only understands character patterns, searching big volumes of text this way is much slower than using full-text search.
- State
A parameter in OAuth that carries custom data through the authorisation flow and back, as with the "Support state parameter" option in APIM.
Related terms
- Dapr components
Connect Dapr APIs in Azure Container Apps to the services behind them, such as a state store on Cosmos DB or pub/sub on Service Bus. They are defined at environment level, and each one's scopes list names the Dapr app IDs allowed to load it.
- Sidecar container
A helper container that runs alongside the main one and shares its network, for example the Dapr sidecar in Container Apps or App Service sidecars, where a Linux app can have up to nine talking over localhost.
