Each book explains HA Ports in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Internal
The API Management VNet mode where the gateway can be reached solely through a private IP address.
- Azure Load Balancer
Layer-4 load balancer operating within a region, with zone redundancy on the Standard SKU; it has no WAF, doesn't terminate TLS and can't route by URL.
- ALL
A DAX function that ignores any filters and gives back every row of a table or every value of the named columns. Used within CALCULATE, it works as a modifier that clears filters, although REMOVEFILTERS states that intent more clearly where it is available.
- TCP
A transport protocol that is connection-oriented.
- UDP
A transport protocol that sends data without establishing a connection.
- Flow
The unit of work inside a Lakeflow pipeline that takes data from a source, transforms it and lands it in a destination like a streaming table. Streaming flows either append or update, and
CREATE FLOWlets you declare a flow apart from the table it feeds. - Active-active
A VPN gateway set-up where traffic flows through both instances simultaneously, each having a separate tunnel and public IP. Servicing one instance therefore disrupts connections less than under default active-standby.

- Basic Load Balancer
Load Balancer SKU retired on 30 September 2025. It was open by default, worked only with Basic public IPs and lacked zones and HA Ports, and its backend pool was confined to a single availability set, scale set or standalone VM.
