Terms in this definition
- FORMAT
A DAX function that turns a value into text according to a format string, for instance "MMMM" to show a month's name. Since the output is text, numeric operations can't use it, and dynamic format strings were introduced to get around that.
- GitHub Packages
GitHub's service for hosting packages (npm, NuGet, Maven, Gradle, RubyGems and Docker), along with its Container registry at ghcr.io. It plays the part Azure Artifacts plays in Azure DevOps.
- Azure Artifacts
Hosts Universal Packages, Cargo, Maven/Gradle, Python, npm and NuGet packages for Azure DevOps teams, in feeds that can draw on upstreams. Container images go elsewhere; GitHub Packages is the GitHub counterpart.
Related terms
- Azure Artifacts Credential Provider
Signs dotnet and NuGet in to Artifacts feeds; unattended jobs supply credentials through environment variables, people sign in interactively.
- Azure Artifacts feed
Holds packages (Cargo, Universal, Python, Maven, npm, NuGet) in Artifacts; it belongs to a project or the organisation and supports views, feed roles and upstreams.
- Database reference
Lets a SQL project use objects it doesn't define itself, such as system objects or tables in another database, by pointing at a NuGet package, a
.dacpacor another project. - Package reference
In an SDK-style SQL project, a NuGet package used as a database reference to bring in another database model, for instance the master system objects; this is the preferred approach in such projects.
- Visual Studio Test Platform Installer
Fetches the Microsoft test platform from NuGet in an Azure Pipelines run, meeting the vstest demand, so agents without a full Visual Studio install can still run the Visual Studio Test task.
