Each book explains Azure Artifacts feed in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Maven
Java's build tool and packaging format. GitHub Packages accepts both Gradle and Maven, while Azure Artifacts feeds store these packages for Gradle clients too.
- Network Performance Monitor
Former network monitoring solution that relied on the Log Analytics agent; it has been retired in favour of Connection Monitor.
- NuGet
The package manager and format for .NET. Its packages can be hosted in GitHub Packages as well as in Azure Artifacts feeds.
- Foundry project
A container beneath a Foundry resource that keeps one team's agents, data, files, evaluations and project connections separate. Model deployments and resource-level connections are shared from the parent, and governance is not configured at this level.
- Feed roles
In ascending order of rights, each including the last: Feed Reader; Feed and Upstream Reader, or Collaborator, who may save from upstream sources; Feed Publisher, or Contributor, who may publish; and Feed Owner.
Related terms
- Allow externally sourced versions
Off unless a Feed Owner turns it on for a given package. While off, if your feed already holds that package name, versions arriving from public upstreams are refused, which guards against dependency confusion attacks.
- CDF
Change data feed. When switched on for a Delta table it records which rows changed from version to version, exposing extra columns that give the kind of change and the commit version. You can query it with
table_changes(), stream from it, or feed it toAUTO CDC. - Derived stream
Created when an eventstream's default stream is transformed, for instance with Filter or Manage fields. It can feed further destinations and shows up in Real-Time hub where colleagues can reuse it.
- Extraction type
Describes the scope of data moved by each ingestion run, which can be everything at once, only new data in batches, a continuous stream, a change data capture (CDC) feed or a snapshot taken at one moment.
- Fabric Eventstream
A Real-Time Intelligence item in Fabric that takes in events as they happen, can reshape them with no code, and sends them on to destinations. SQL change event streaming is one way to feed it row changes.
- Feed retention policies
Lets a Feed Owner cap how many versions of each package an Azure Artifacts feed keeps; once the cap is hit, versions not downloaded within a set number of days are deleted. Anything promoted to a view is safe.
- Feed view
Lets you share only validated packages from an Azure Artifacts feed, read-only. Packages are promoted into them; @Local is the default, alongside @Prerelease and @Release.
- GitHub Advisory Database
Holds open source vulnerability advisories in OSV format. Only those GitHub has reviewed feed Dependabot alerts; unreviewed entries imported from the NVD do not.
