Terms in this definition
- BLOB
Short for binary large object: raw binary data, like pictures, audio, video or documents, that only an application can make sense of. Azure keeps these files as blobs in Blob Storage.
- Azure Backup
Azure's backup service, which keeps recovery points, long-term retention included, in a Recovery Services vault. It restores data rather than failing workloads over, which is the job of Site Recovery.
- Iceberg reads
A setting on a Delta table that writes Iceberg metadata as well, letting Iceberg clients query the data while all writes still go through Delta.
- Retention policy
A preview feature in ACR Premium that removes untagged manifests once a chosen number of days has passed since they lost their tag (7 by default, anywhere from 0 to 365).
- General-purpose v1
The older storage account kind (
Storage), which lacks access tiers, Archive and premium file shares and retires on 13 October 2026. Converting to ZRS requires first upgrading to GPv2, a one-way change. - AGDLP
Nesting pattern: users go into global groups, which go into domain local groups, which receive the permissions. AGUDLP adds universal groups for forests with several domains.
