Terms in this definition
- CPU
The processor that runs a VM's workload (central processing unit); while B-series VMs run under their baseline, they accumulate CPU credits.
Related terms
- Access this computer from the network
Accounts holding this user right can connect across the network, to SMB shares for instance.
- AD DS authentication (Azure Files)
Option that domain-joins a storage account to on-premises AD DS, letting synced hybrid users mount its SMB shares using Kerberos. RBAC controls share-level access, while Windows ACLs govern files and folders.
- AzFilesHybrid
Its Join-AzStorageAccount cmdlet registers a storage account with on-premises Active Directory, so file shares on Azure can authenticate AD DS identities.
- Azure Files
Azure's managed file shares over SMB or NFS. There is no Archive tier, and a single encryption key applies across the whole storage account.
- Azure Files backup
Azure Backup for file shares, using a Recovery Services vault that must share the storage account's region. Schedules are either daily or hourly; hourly ones repeat every 4, 6, 8 or 12 hours, with 1 and 2 added in newer policies.
- Azure Storage
You reach this Azure data storage platform through a storage account; it covers blobs (Data Lake Storage included), file shares, queues and tables.
- Azure Storage Explorer
Desktop application for handling data in storage accounts that already exist, such as blobs and their tiers, file shares, tables, queues and SAS URLs; creating a storage account isn't possible from it.
- Azure Storage Mover
Managed migration of folders and files into Azure Storage from on-premises shares or other clouds, with many migrations controlled from a single resource. Microsoft recommends it when moving lots of data.
