Terms in this definition
- Action group
Azure Monitor's reusable definition of contacts and automated responses for when an alert or budget fires. Contacts can be reached by email, SMS, push or voice; responses include webhooks, Functions, Logic Apps and Automation runbooks. Budgets alone can only send notifications.
- HTTP
Hypertext Transfer Protocol, which sends data in clear text; VCF interfaces and APIs instead use HTTPS.
- subscription
Entitlement bought for a product under VCF 9.0 licensing, carrying a set capacity. Where active ones share the same site, unit and product, their capacity is combined into licences, which are then allocated to vCenters.
Related terms
- Azure Policy for Kubernetes
Admission control for Kubernetes based on Gatekeeper v3, installed as an AKS add-on or, on other clusters, an Arc extension. It acts as a webhook so that non-compliant pods are rejected by Azure Policy definitions set to Deny.
- Basic Auth Publishing Credentials
App Service option, set independently for FTP and SCM, permitting deployment using a user name and password. Turned off for new apps by default, it has to be enabled before a container registry webhook can redeploy the app.
- CD
Practice of releasing every change automatically, such as an ACR webhook that redeploys a containerised web app when a new image is pushed.
- Gatekeeper
An admission controller webhook for Kubernetes based on Open Policy Agent, which Azure Policy for Kubernetes builds on. Running a separately installed copy alongside the add-on is unsupported.
- HTTP trigger
Exposes a function as a webhook or web endpoint, secured by keys at master, host or function level.
- payload template
Sets which data a VCF Operations outbound notification plug-in, a webhook for example, sends out. Each plug-in has a default, and you can define your own.
- Request (HTTP) trigger
Trigger in Logic Apps that fires when an HTTP request or webhook call arrives.
- Service Health alerts
When planned maintenance, a health advisory or a service issue hits one of your subscriptions, these activity log alerts fire an action group to contact you by SMS, email, push notification, webhook or Logic Apps.
