Terms in this definition
- DSC
Desired State Configuration, a PowerShell configuration-management approach for VMs; it configures existing machines and cannot provision new ones.
- Azure Automation
Azure service that runs runbooks, scripts that carry out imperative steps such as scaling Azure Virtual Desktop host pools. It is not an infrastructure-as-code tool.
- Retire
Strips corporate data, managed apps and MDM profiles from a device while keeping personal data, which is the key difference from a Wipe in Intune.
Related terms
- Pull server
The source a DSC node fetches configurations from when its LCM is set to pull. Azure Automation State Configuration provides one that also reports compliance; that service retires on 30 September 2027, to be replaced by Azure Machine Configuration.
