- SQL Server
The relational database from Microsoft that organisations host and run themselves, in their own data centres or on VMs. Its engine also sits underneath the Azure SQL services and SQL database in Fabric.
- Software Assurance
An add-on to Microsoft volume licences granting benefits like upgrades to newer releases and Azure Hybrid Benefit on Windows Server.
- RHEL
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: a Linux distribution eligible for Azure Hybrid Benefit licensing, which Ubuntu is not.
- SUSE
Azure Hybrid Benefit can apply to licences for this Linux distribution.
- DTU
Database Transaction Unit, a single figure combining CPU, memory and I/O, used by the DTU purchasing model for Azure SQL.
- Auditing
Azure SQL capability that sends database audit logs to Log Analytics, Event Hubs or a storage account; that account is allowed to be in a different region.
