Terms in this definition
- Chat message roles
Labels on chat messages: instructions go under system, the person's input under user, the model's previous answers under assistant, and results returned by a called tool under tool (or function).
Related terms
- Billable Foundry resource (skillset)
Key or identity of a Foundry resource linked to a skillset, letting built-in Vision, Language and Translator skills process more than the free allowance of 20 documents per indexer per day; a single multi-service resource is enough for all of them.
- Document translation
Batch, asynchronous Translator capability that converts entire documents from a source blob container into a target one, preserving layout, and can apply glossaries.
- Machine translation
Converting text from one language into another automatically, using a model such as a generative model or Azure Translator.
- Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key (Foundry Tools)
Carries the key when calling a Foundry Tools resource such as Translator or Language. For Azure OpenAI REST calls, the key goes in api-key rather than this header.
- Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Region
Header on Translator requests that names the region of the resource. It must be sent with multi-service or regional keys but may be omitted for a global Translator resource.
- Text Translation skill
A built-in skill that calls Translator to translate text. Leaving out defaultFromLanguageCode lets the source language be detected automatically.
- TextTranslationClient
The client in the Translator text SDK, built from an AzureKeyCredential plus a region. Call TranslateAsync to get TranslatedTextItem results or GetSupportedLanguagesAsync for the language list.
- Translator custom endpoint
Once Translator has network restrictions, requests must go to the resource's own endpoint, <name>.cognitiveservices.azure.com/translator; the global and geography endpoints such as api-nam are rejected.
