Each book explains Container insights in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Performance
Routing method in Traffic Manager that directs users to whichever endpoint offers the lowest latency.
- AKS
Short for Azure Kubernetes Service, a managed Kubernetes offering that gives full control of clusters and node pools. Scaling uses the cluster autoscaler and Horizontal Pod Autoscaler; user sign-in is not built in.
- Azure Monitor
Observability platform for Azure that brings together metrics, logs and traces from both Azure and hybrid resources so they can be analysed and alerted on.
Related terms
- ContainerLogV2
Table in Log Analytics holding the stdout and stderr output that Container insights collects from containers, with columns including PodNamespace, PodName and ContainerName. Its predecessor, ContainerLog, lost support on 30 September 2026 and no longer receives data.
- Kubernetes events
Lifecycle records for Deployments, Services, nodes and pods. After an hour they disappear, unless Container insights captures them in its KubeEvents table for longer retention.
- Live data
Real-time portal view in Container insights showing pod metrics, events and container logs, much as kubectl top pods, get events and logs would.
