Each book explains Datastore cluster in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Storage DRS
Uses Storage vMotion and VMDK anti-affinity rules to choose where new VMs go and to keep space usage even across all datastores in a datastore cluster.
- WHERE
Limits a SELECT, UPDATE or DELETE to just the rows meeting a condition. Omit it, and the statement hits every row.
- FIRST
A DAX function available only inside visual calculations. It fetches the value at the start of one axis of the visual's matrix, which makes it handy for comparing each point with the first; its opposite is LAST.
Related terms
- Initial placement
When a VM powers on, DRS decides its host; when a VM is created or cloned, or a disk is added or relocated, Storage DRS decides which datastore in the datastore cluster it goes to. Together these determine where workloads start out.
