- Certificate
Key Vault object holding an X.509 certificate, whose associated key and secret are managed alongside it.
- Authentication
Checking an identity claim made by a person, device or app, for instance by asking for a password plus an extra factor. Authorisation only happens once this step has succeeded.
- SMB over QUIC
Carries SMB inside QUIC, using UDP port 443 and TLS 1.3, so people can reach file shares safely with no VPN. Every edition of Windows Server 2025 includes it, as does Windows Server 2022 Datacenter: Azure Edition.
