Also called regional.

Terms in this definition
- Availability zone
One or more datacentres in an Azure region that are physically apart from the rest and have their own power, cooling and network. If one zone fails, the others keep running.
Related terms
- Auto-failover group
Azure SQL feature that geo-replicates a group of databases or an entire Managed Instance, failing over automatically behind listener endpoints that stay the same. For Managed Instance it is the sole regional DR option.
- AzureKeyVault (service tag)
Service tag, usable outbound and optionally regional, that represents the IP ranges of Azure Key Vault.
- Cross-region load balancer
Global tier of Standard Load Balancer: a single anycast public IP fronts a backend pool made up of regional public Standard load balancers, and traffic goes to whichever healthy region is closest. Basic SKUs can't take part.
- Custom subdomain (Foundry Tools)
Endpoint unique to a resource,
https://<name>.cognitiveservices.azure.com, that Microsoft Entra ID authentication requires because regional endpoints reject Entra tokens; once set, it can't be undone. - Data Zone Standard
Deployment type billed per token that can route requests to any region inside a Microsoft-defined data zone (US, EU or APAC), giving higher quota than regional deployments.
- Default VPC
NSX VPC generated automatically once regional networking is completed for a VCF Automation organization, alongside an NSX project, a transit gateway, a default VPC connectivity profile and an SNAT rule.
- Drill down
Going from a summary to finer detail within a hierarchy, for instance from regional sales to city sales; drilling up reverses it. Power BI visuals and semantic models both support this.
- Locale
Determines how Power Query reads dates and numbers stored as text when converting them. By default Power BI Desktop follows the regional format of the operating system; you can override this per file, or per step using Change type > Using locale.
