Terms in this definition
- VCF Automation
Self-service platform in VCF for provisioning VM, Kubernetes and AI workloads. Providers manage regions and tenants in one portal, while tenants handle projects and consumption in theirs.
- Tenant
A trusted, dedicated Microsoft Entra ID instance that stores the users, groups and app registrations of one organisation. A subscription trusts only a single tenant, although a tenant can be trusted by several subscriptions.
- ALL
A DAX function that ignores any filters and gives back every row of a table or every value of the named columns. Used within CALCULATE, it works as a modifier that clears filters, although REMOVEFILTERS states that intent more clearly where it is available.
- Provider
The organisation that shares data in OpenSharing. Recipients also see a provider as a Unity Catalog securable, from which shares can be mounted as catalogs.
- Consumption
Serverless, event-driven Azure Functions hosting plan charged per execution; runs are capped at 10 minutes and VNet integration isn't available.
Related terms
- Authentication binding policy
Rules in this certificate-based authentication setting, matched on certificate issuer or policy OID, can lift a certificate from the tenant default (single-factor, low affinity) to multifactor or to high affinity binding.
- Azure DevOps Administrator
Microsoft Entra role for managing enterprise-level Azure DevOps policies across the organisations connected to the tenant; it gives no rights to register apps or grant admin consent.
- Conditional Access Administrator
Holders of this Entra administrator role build and maintain named locations and the tenant's Conditional Access policies.
- Default VPC
NSX VPC generated automatically once regional networking is completed for a VCF Automation organization, alongside an NSX project, a transit gateway, a default VPC connectivity profile and an SNAT rule.
- eDiscovery Administrator
A subgroup within eDiscovery Manager, for named users only, whose members can additionally open any case in the tenant and take people off cases.
- Entity Recognition skill (V3)
A built-in skill relying on named entity recognition from Azure Language. Entities like Organization, Person, DateTime and Location come back as metadata, not as vectors.
- Global privacy contact
Somewhere to record who handles enquiries about personal data in your organisation; it's an email address on the tenant, and Microsoft writes to it too if a breach hits Microsoft Entra services. Admins fill it in, next to the privacy statement URL, from Entra ID > Overview > Properties.
- GraphAPIAuditEvents
Lets you query, in advanced hunting, calls made through Microsoft Entra ID to Microsoft Graph that target the tenant's resources.
