Terms in this definition
- Power BI report
A set of one or more pages of interactive visuals, all drawing on a single semantic model, usually designed in Power BI Desktop (the service can also build them with a smaller feature set) and then published to a workspace.
- Power BI Report Builder
Free desktop software for Windows, used to author paginated reports and publish them to the Power BI service. Those reports are print-ready layouts listing every row of a table; interactive Power BI reports need another tool.
- Agents (classic) API
First-generation Foundry Agent Service API, based on threads, messages and runs. It is deprecated, replaced by conversations and responses, and retires on 31 March 2027.
- OVER
Gives a T-SQL window function its window: PARTITION BY, ORDER BY and, if wanted, a ROWS or RANGE frame. Rankings and running totals can then be worked out while every row is kept.
- Event
Table in Log Analytics where entries from Windows event logs are kept.
- RAMP
The approach used by the Cloud Adoption Framework's Manage methodology to structure cloud operations: teams, duties, processes and tools. It divides what the central platform handles from what each workload handles.
- PDF
Portable Document Format. Its layout never shifts, and paginated reports can be printed or saved in it with all their rows showing.
Related terms
- Paginated report visual
Shows a published paginated report embedded on a normal Power BI page. By mapping report fields to the paginated report's parameters you let it respond to cross-filtering; it can't be included in exports or subscriptions.
