Every Fabric warehouse and SQL analytics endpoint has a queryinsights schema whose views, for example exec_requests_history and long_running_queries, keep a history of finished queries to help with tuning.
Also called queryinsights.

Each book explains Query insights in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Fabric Warehouse
A relational data warehouse in the classic style, offered as a Fabric item, that supports T-SQL fully, transactions included.
- SQL analytics endpoint
Read-only SQL access in Fabric to the data in a lakehouse. Power BI using DirectQuery through it performs more slowly than Direct Lake.
- Schema
The middle part of a Unity Catalog name (
catalog.schema.table), grouping tables, views, volumes, functions and models inside a catalog. A grant on it covers everything in it now and later, and nothing inside can be reached withoutUSE SCHEMA.
Related terms
- Cold start
The extra time a Fabric warehouse query can take on its first run, because data has to be pulled from OneLake into the cache, statistics built or nodes woken up. In query insights, a
data_scanned_remote_storage_mbvalue above zero is the tell-tale sign. - Compute metrics
Hardware, Spark and GPU figures sampled once a minute and kept for 30 days, shown on the Metrics tab of classic all-purpose and jobs compute. Query insights replace it on serverless compute.
