Terms in this definition
- DAX
Short for Data Analysis Expressions, the formula language you write measures, calculated columns and row-level security rules in, within tabular semantic models in Power BI, Excel Power Pivot or Analysis Services.
- Set
Secret permission in Key Vault for writing secrets; some older material refers to it as Create.
- COUNT
A DAX function returning how many non-blank numbers, dates or text values a column contains. Boolean columns need COUNTA instead, and for counting the rows of a table COUNTROWS is the better choice.
- WHERE
Limits a SELECT, UPDATE or DELETE to just the rows meeting a condition. Omit it, and the statement hits every row.
- Decimal number
A numeric type in Power BI and Power Query holding 64-bit floating-point values with roughly 15 significant digits, which means some decimals are stored only approximately. For money, Fixed decimal number is the better fit.
- VALUES
Returns in DAX the distinct column values, or table rows, still visible after filters are applied, sometimes with an extra blank entry. CALCULATE often takes the result as a table filter.

- azure/sql-action

.dacpacto SQL Server or an Azure SQL database; it is a wrapper round SqlPackage. - DSM
Device-specific module: the MPIO plug-in that manages paths to a given storage array. Microsoft's own offers balancing policies including round robin, least queue depth and failover only.
- E2E
End to end. Among Azure Storage metrics, SuccessE2ELatency covers a request's whole round trip including the client network, whereas SuccessServerLatency counts only the time Azure Storage spends processing it.
- LQD
Least Queue Depth sends each I/O down whichever route currently has the shortest backlog. It is one of several MPIO policies, alongside Round Robin, Least Blocks and Fail Over Only.
- Microsoft Defender Experts MDR

- NOEXPAND
Tells the optimiser to read an indexed view through its own index rather than substituting the view's definition. Standard edition requires this hint, while OPTION (EXPAND VIEWS) works the other way round.
- Temp table
Prefixed with
#, visible only within its creating session and gone once that session ends. Fabric Data Warehouse makes these non-distributed (MDF-backed) by default;WITH (DISTRIBUTION=ROUND_ROBIN)gives a distributed, Parquet-backed variant. Global##versions aren't supported.
