Terms in this definition
- Azure Table Storage
Holds structured NoSQL records without a fixed schema, using keys and attributes; think device details, contact lists or user records. It now sits within the Azure Cosmos DB family, where Azure Cosmos DB for Table is the premium step up.
- property
In VCF Operations, an attribute describing how an object is configured, such as its vCPU count. Unlike a metric, it captures state rather than performance over time, and it can feed symptom definitions, views, dashboards and reports.
- Entity
Something like a product or customer that an organisation stores data about. Its characteristics are its attributes, and every individual record is one instance.
- Azure AI Search partition
Storage and I/O unit of a search service, each holding part of the indexes. Adding partitions increases storage and indexing throughput; the number of search units equals replicas multiplied by partitions.
- Index field attributes
Settings applied to each field in an Azure AI Search index:
searchablefor full text, retrievableto return it,filterablefor exact-match$filter,sortable,facetablefor counts, andkeyfor the unique document ID.
Related terms
- Point query
An Azure Table storage lookup that supplies both the PartitionKey and the RowKey, so exactly one entity comes back; this is the fastest kind of query the service offers.
- Range query
Second only to a point query for efficiency in Azure Table storage: it names one PartitionKey plus a span of RowKey values and returns the contiguous entities within that partition.
- Table storage
Low-cost key-value tables indexed solely on RowKey and PartitionKey, limited to a single write region and entities of 1 MB.
