In VCF Operations, an attribute describing how an object is configured, such as its vCPU count. Unlike a metric, it captures state rather than performance over time, and it can feed symptom definitions, views, dashboards and reports.

Terms in this definition
- VCF Operations
VCF's console for running the fleet. It covers alerting, monitoring, capacity, reporting, log analysis and licensing alongside fleet management of identity, passwords, certificates and lifecycle.
- COUNT
A DAX function returning how many non-blank numbers, dates or text values a column contains. Boolean columns need COUNTA instead, and for counting the rows of a table COUNTROWS is the better choice.
- metric
Measurement over time that VCF Operations gathers for an object, such as CPU usage. A policy turns collection of each one on or off, or lets it inherit the setting.
- State
A parameter in OAuth that carries custom data through the authorisation flow and back, as with the "Support state parameter" option in APIM.
- Performance
Routing method in Traffic Manager that directs users to whichever endpoint offers the lowest latency.
- OVER
Gives a T-SQL window function its window: PARTITION BY, ORDER BY and, if wanted, a ROWS or RANGE frame. Rankings and running totals can then be worked out while every row is kept.
- Azure Artifacts feed
Holds packages (Cargo, Universal, Python, Maven, npm, NuGet) in Artifacts; it belongs to a project or the organisation and supports views, feed roles and upstreams.
Related terms
- Adaptive target file size
A Spark setting in Fabric that chooses the target file size for each Delta table based on how big the table is, starting at 128 MB for small tables and rising towards 1 GB for very large ones, and reconsiders the choice every time
OPTIMIZEruns. It is enabled by default in Runtime 2.0 and removes the need to tune the olderdelta.targetFileSizeproperty by hand. - allowBlobPublicAccess
Account-level storage property; setting it to false blocks anonymous reads on all containers regardless of what each container's access level says.
- AssignableScopes
Property of a role definition stating at which management groups, subscriptions, resource groups or resources a custom role may be assigned.
- Assignment overrides
An optional property on a policy assignment that alters a definition's effect, or the version of a built-in definition, without touching the definition itself. Selectors can narrow where an override applies, and pairing it with resource selectors supports safe, staged rollout.
- Azure Cosmos DB for Table
Works like Azure Table Storage, with its key/value model and programming approach, but gains global distribution, higher throughput and indexing of every property. Microsoft suggests it when starting new table-based workloads.
- Classification rules
Tag files with property values according to location or content in FSRM; file management tasks and access policies can then act on the tags.
- CONSTITUTION.md
A database-level extended property in SSMS with Copilot instructions that outrank every other set. If
agentExecuteAsUserappears in its front matter, Copilot's queries execute as that user by means ofEXECUTE AS. - Continuous availability
Clustered file servers can give SMB 3 shares this property so that clients keep going uninterrupted when the share fails over between nodes.
