Recovers vSphere machines whose volumes are replicated by NetApp or HPE arrays. Groups are defined inside Orchestrator rather than through Veeam ONE, and after a failover the plan remains IN-USE until reset.

Each book explains storage plan in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- vSphere
VMware's platform for virtualisation, made up of vCenter and ESX hosts, supplying compute for VCF clusters.
- Orchestrator
Software, Kubernetes being an example, that looks after large numbers of containers throughout their life by scheduling, scaling, repairing and updating them.
- Veeam ONE
A standalone Veeam product that monitors and reports on Veeam Backup & Replication and virtual environments in real time and documents them for the business. It can also measure how quickly VMs change, which helps with sizing.
- failover
Switching workloads from production VMs over to replicas at the recovery site; replica, CDP replica and storage plans do this. The plan is left in FAILOVER until it is undone, made permanent or followed by failback.
Related terms
- Protect Storage Volumes
Optional NetApp step run at the end of a storage plan. It flips the replication relationship so data flows back the other way and resyncs, telling you only whether that reprotection got under way.
- Storage Failover
Runs before a storage plan's inventory groups. It splits NetApp SnapMirror pairings or fails over HPE remote copy groups, then presents the replicated volumes and datastores at the recovery site.
- Unmount Source Datastores
Runs at the end of a storage plan, once failover is complete, to detach the original volumes from the source vCenter.
- Unregister Source VMs
Runs at the end of a storage plan, once failover is complete, to remove the original machines from hosts at the production site.
- Veeam Job Actions
Starts, stops, enables or disables a specific backup or replication job by name. A typical use is turning off snapshot-based jobs before a storage plan reverses the direction of replication.
