A standalone Veeam product that monitors and reports on Veeam Backup & Replication and virtual environments in real time and documents them for the business. It can also measure how quickly VMs change, which helps with sizing.
In the Ultra Transcenders books
Each book explains Veeam ONE in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Measure
A figure like total revenue, worked out by aggregating fact table data wherever dimensions intersect within a semantic model.
- Virtual machines
Infrastructure-as-a-service compute giving complete control of the operating system, making it a fit for lift-and-shift moves and for software relying on OS-level pieces like COM.
Related terms
- alarm assignment
Sets the reach of an alarm: one object, a whole group such as a Business View group or an infrastructure container, or everything Veeam ONE watches. Individual items or groups may be excluded.
- Analytics view
Area of the Backup & Replication console that brings in Veeam ONE content such as Threat Center and other reports. Anything saved there appears in Veeam ONE inside a folder named for that server.
- CIM
Hardware monitoring standard exposed by ESXi. Veeam ONE queries host sensor status this way using CIM XML on port 5989, so its account needs the CIM Interaction privilege.
- Coveware integration
Links Coveware's Recon product to Veeam ONE. After setup on a dedicated tab of the web interface's security configuration, Threat Center begins flagging possible ransomware behaviour and gets a small Threats widget.
- data collection mode
Determines what Veeam ONE gathers: only backup data, or backup data together with either standard or large-scale virtual infrastructure metrics. It is picked during setup and can later be changed in the Settings utility.
- Data Collection Overview
Web Client configuration page that groups the servers Veeam ONE is connected to by type. For each backup server you can deploy Veeam Analytics there and adjust its remediation and log analysis options.
- Global exclusion rule
Filter defined separately for each kind of object on Veeam ONE's Business View settings tab. Whatever satisfies it is kept out of all categories and groups.
- IBM AIX
IBM's Unix platform. AIX machines are backed up with Veeam's Unix agent and show up in Veeam ONE once you add the Backup & Replication server responsible for managing them.
