Terms in this definition
- Azure Machine Learning component
Reusable building block for a pipeline, versioned and self-contained, much like a function: it declares a name, inputs and outputs, and bundles the command, code and environment it runs.
Related terms
- data collection job
Enterprise Manager uses this job to copy information from each connected backup server's configuration database into its own, every quarter of an hour by default or when started by hand.
- delegation mode
In Enterprise Manager's vSphere Self-Service Backup Portal, this setting limits tenants to certain VMs, chosen by tag, by role or by VM privilege; single sign-on is supported with tags alone.
- ECC
Elliptic-curve keys for certificates. Neither Enterprise Manager nor the backup server accepts them for TLS, and the same goes for CNG certificates.
- Enterprise Manager keyset
Created on the Enterprise Manager server, this pair of keys supports password loss protection: backups get encrypted with the public half too, and the private half can then recover them should the password be forgotten.
- guest file system indexing
Records which guest OS files each backup contains. Malware detection relies on this catalogue, and Enterprise Manager uses it for searching and restoring files.
- password loss protection
An Enterprise Manager capability that includes its own keyset when backups are encrypted, so the data can still be unlocked if the password is forgotten or the KMS cannot be reached. A paid licence is needed to use it.
- restore scope
Which machines and file shares a Portal User or Restore Operator is allowed to recover in Enterprise Manager. Everything is included until it is narrowed, which needs the Enterprise Plus edition.
- updates mirror
Introduced in 13.1 as an Enterprise Manager role, it keeps a local copy of what Veeam's Update Repository publishes. Backup servers and appliances can then fetch updates from it without internet access.
