Terms in this definition
- USB
Universal Serial Bus, for connecting peripherals. A BitLocker startup key can live on a USB stick, and although Storage Spaces will take USB drives, using them is not advised.
- Chat message roles
Labels on chat messages: instructions go under system, the person's input under user, the model's previous answers under assistant, and results returned by a called tool under tool (or function).
- WHERE
Limits a SELECT, UPDATE or DELETE to just the rows meeting a condition. Omit it, and the statement hits every row.
Related terms
- Custom profile
When Intune has no built-in setting for what you need, this kind of profile fills the gap: Windows and Android take OMA-URI entries, while Apple devices take a file made in Apple Configurator.
- DEM
An ordinary Microsoft Entra account, without admin rights, that may enrol as many as 1,000 devices. This kind of account can't be used for Apple Configurator or Apple Automated Device Enrollment.
- Direct enrollment
An Apple Configurator method that leaves the device's data intact and only works for devices with no user affinity. Company Portal can't be used, and the .mobileconfig profile it relies on expires after two weeks.
- Setup Assistant enrollment
A way of enrolling iPhones and iPads with Apple Configurator. The device is wiped and then joins Intune as it goes through Setup Assistant, matched against serial numbers already imported.
