Each book explains Baseline in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- CONTROL
Granting this on a securable gives all other permissions on it too, making it the most powerful SQL permission. At database scope that includes UNMASK and ALTER ANY MASK. Warehouse access through the Admin, Member or Contributor workspace roles carries it.
Related terms
- Always ready instances
To avoid cold starts, a baseline of instances can be kept running and billed, either for chosen functions or function groups on Flex Consumption or for the whole app on Premium. Flex Consumption doesn't count them toward its maximum instance limit.
- Architecture Definition Document
A key deliverable bringing together the main architecture artifacts across the four domains for every relevant state: baseline, transition and target. It sets out, in qualitative terms, what the architect intends.
- Architecture Roadmap
A time-ordered plan of work packages that moves from the baseline towards the target, showing the business value of each and any Transition Architectures. Phase E produces the first full draft, and Phase F completes it.
- B-series
Burstable VM family that accumulates CPU credits while running under its baseline and uses them up when it bursts above it.
- Compliance check
Reports whether hosts or clusters match their image or baseline in vLCM, altering nothing. Pre-checks, staging and remediation are the later steps.
- CPU
The processor that runs a VM's workload (central processing unit); while B-series VMs run under their baseline, they accumulate CPU credits.
- CSF
Short for the NIST Cybersecurity Framework: optional standards, guidelines and practices that help organisations handle cyber risk. Alongside ISO, it supplies most controls in the baseline assessment Compliance Manager starts with.
- Data drift
Monitoring signal that checks how the production distribution of each input feature differs from a baseline, normally the training data, with measures like PSI or Jensen-Shannon distance; crossing a threshold can kick off retraining.
