Terms in this definition
- Job
A sequence of steps executed together on one agent or runner, or on the server for agentless work. While running, each occupies one of your parallel jobs.
- Veeam ONE Server
Heart of the product: it gathers information from hypervisors and Veeam backup servers, then writes it to the database. Installing it also brings the Monitoring and Reporting services, the Web API and the Veeam Analytics service.
- Image tagging
An Image Analysis feature producing single-word tags, each with a confidence score, for actions, scenery, objects and living things in an image.
- Custom attributes
Unlike tags, these have no categories: they are plain string key/value pairs, defined in the vSphere Client and set on individual VMs, clusters, hosts or networks, with vCenter rather than the object holding the value.
Related terms
- Azure Arc-enabled servers
Servers running Windows or Linux outside Azure that become Azure resources once the Azure Connected Machine agent is installed; data collection rules can then drive the Azure Monitor agent on them.
- Azure Monitor agent
Agent now used to collect logs from a machine's guest OS, driven by data collection rules; it took over from the Log Analytics agent (MMA).
- backup log analysis
Diagnostic capability, run by the Veeam Analytics service, which looks through Backup & Replication log files for signs of problems already known to Veeam. Each backup server can have it enabled or disabled from the data collection settings.
- CSV file
Each line of this plain-text file is one object, and together they define a categorisation model. Veeam ONE Client imports it either just once or on every data collection, producing the groups and categories behind inventory groups.
- Device tags
Labels that group and describe Defender for Endpoint machines. You can add them by hand or let rules in Asset Rule Management apply them automatically, then use them when building device groups or scoping which policies and data collection apply.
- Log Analytics agent
Older MMA/OMS monitoring agent, retired in August 2024. The Azure Monitor Agent, configured with data collection rules, replaces it.
- Microsoft.Insights
Under this provider namespace you find the resources of Azure Monitor, for instance alert rules and diagnostic settings, along with data collection rules and their endpoints.
- Multiple-condition categorisation
Business View method giving each group its own set of property conditions, linked by AND or OR. Members are recalculated at every data collection, so the groups stay dynamic.
