Terms in this definition
- Schema
The middle part of a Unity Catalog name (
catalog.schema.table), grouping tables, views, volumes, functions and models inside a catalog. A grant on it covers everything in it now and later, and nothing inside can be reached withoutUSE SCHEMA. - Web API
Receives tokens issued by Microsoft Entra, validates them and decides what callers may do based on their
rolesandscpclaims. A web app making the calls acts purely as a client. - Veeam Analytics service
Links Veeam ONE with each backup server it watches. Installed as a server on the Veeam ONE Server and as a client on every connected Veeam Backup & Replication machine, it brings back data and logs and delivers remediation commands.

- all-in-one deployment
A setup where Veeam ONE Server, Web Services and Client all sit on a single machine. It is aimed at small to mid-sized environments, and Community Edition can only be installed this way.
- data collection
A recurring job in the embedded Veeam ONE server. Each pass pulls inventory, properties, tags and custom attributes from connected servers, then refreshes categorisation groups.
- inventory group
A collection of virtual or physical machines, created through categorisation in the embedded Veeam ONE server, from which recovery plans are assembled.

Disk area that Veeam ONE Server uses to hold live performance figures behind client views and dashboards, so less memory is needed. It sits at C:\PerfCache unless changed and belongs on quick local storage.
- Veeam ONE Business View
Sorts objects into categories and groups within the embedded Veeam ONE server, configured through its client. Orchestrator builds its inventory groups from these.
- Veeam ONE Client
Desktop application for Windows, used above all to watch virtual and backup infrastructure as it happens through alarms, charts, dashboards and Business View. It can talk to a Veeam ONE Server installed locally or on another machine.
- Veeam ONE Web Services
Runs on Microsoft IIS to serve the browser-based Web Client and produce reports, connecting back to the Web API on the Veeam ONE Server.
- WSS
WebSocket Secure. Alongside HTTPS on port 443, it connects your browser and Veeam ONE Server with Veeam's AI service so that Veeam Intelligence can work.
