Terms in this definition
- General-purpose v1
The older storage account kind (
Storage), which lacks access tiers, Archive and premium file shares and retires on 13 October 2026. Converting to ZRS requires first upgrading to GPv2, a one-way change. - Premium Azure Files
File shares on FileStorage accounts backed by SSDs, giving latency in single-digit milliseconds for transaction-heavy work. Only LRS and ZRS are offered, so geo-redundancy is unavailable.
- IOPS
Input/output operations per second measure how fast a disk performs; a P50 disk, for instance, offers 7,500.
