Terms in this definition
- Orchestrator
Software, Kubernetes being an example, that looks after large numbers of containers throughout their life by scheduling, scaling, repairing and updating them.
- Azure AI Search replica
Additional copy of a search service's engine and indexes. Replicas spread queries for load balancing and improve availability, so adding them is the fix when queries are throttled with HTTP 503.
- CDP
Cisco Discovery Protocol lets an administrator see which port on a physical switch each host uplink is cabled to. vSphere supports it on distributed and standard switches alike, while LLDP requires a distributed switch.
- RESTORE
Puts a Delta table back to how it was at an older point, picked by
TO VERSION AS OForTO TIMESTAMP AS OF. You needMODIFY, and onceVACUUMhas cleared the old files it can't succeed. - General-purpose v1
The older storage account kind (
Storage), which lacks access tiers, Archive and premium file shares and retires on 13 October 2026. Converting to ZRS requires first upgrading to GPv2, a one-way change.

- DataLab test
A rehearsal of a recovery plan inside a DataLab where machines really boot in isolation and steps and checks run; nothing is kept afterwards, and a DataLab Test Report is produced.
- Plan Execution Report
Each time a recovery plan settles into a new stable state, Orchestrator produces this report. It gives a breakdown for every machine, timing figures and errors, if there were any.
- post-plan steps
A built-in group found in each recovery plan, holding steps that run once every inventory group has been recovered. You can add or remove its steps but not move the group.
- pre-plan steps
A built-in group found in each recovery plan, holding steps that get the recovery environment ready before any inventory group is processed. You can add or remove its steps but not move the group.
- restore plan
A recovery plan that brings back backups of vSphere VMs, Hyper-V VMs or Veeam agents into vSphere or Hyper-V. Recovering to Azure is handled by cloud plans.
