Decides which storage service a private endpoint reaches (blob, file, queue, table, web or dfs). Each type needs only one endpoint for all its containers or shares, though ADLS Gen2 requires separate blob and dfs endpoints.

Terms in this definition
- General-purpose v1
The older storage account kind (
Storage), which lacks access tiers, Archive and premium file shares and retires on 13 October 2026. Converting to ZRS requires first upgrading to GPv2, a one-way change. - Private endpoint
A network interface in your subnet whose private IP leads, through Private Link, to a single instance of a service. Peered VNets and on-premises networks (via ExpressRoute or VPN) can use it, after which public access can be switched off.
- BLOB
Short for binary large object: raw binary data, like pictures, audio, video or documents, that only an application can make sense of. Azure keeps these files as blobs in Blob Storage.
- Event
Table in Log Analytics where entries from Windows event logs are kept.
- DFS
Short for Distributed File System, the collective label for two role services: DFS Namespaces and DFS Replication.
- ALL
A DAX function that ignores any filters and gives back every row of a table or every value of the named columns. Used within CALCULATE, it works as a modifier that clears filters, although REMOVEFILTERS states that intent more clearly where it is available.
- ADLS Gen2
Short for Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2: a standard GPv2 account with hierarchical namespace turned on, so analytics workloads get true directories and POSIX-style ACLs.
