Software from Veeam that backs up individual Windows, Linux, Mac and Unix computers. These machines show up in Veeam ONE only by way of the Veeam Backup & Replication servers in charge of their backups, as there is no direct connection to the agents.

Terms in this definition
- LAMP
Short for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (Perl and Python also fill the P): a widely used open-source stack for web applications whose database is frequently Azure Database for MySQL.
- Veeam ONE
A standalone Veeam product that monitors and reports on Veeam Backup & Replication and virtual environments in real time and documents them for the business. It can also measure how quickly VMs change, which helps with sizing.
- Connection
Resource that attaches a virtual network gateway to its peer, which may be an ExpressRoute circuit, a second VNet gateway (Vnet2Vnet) or a local network gateway over IPsec. Resetting it recovers a single tunnel and avoids rebooting the whole gateway.
Related terms
- Database Availability Group
In Exchange, a group of mailbox servers clustered for high availability. A normal one is handled by Veeam Agent like a failover cluster; one without an IP address is covered by putting every node into a protection group.
- general-purpose backup proxy
Moves data for storage snapshot integration, Veeam Agent jobs and unstructured data protection. Separate VMware or Hyper-V proxies deal with VMs.
- Per-instance licence
Licensing in which managed workloads, such as VMs that are monitored or protected and machines running Veeam Agent, each use up licence units known as instances.
- unmanaged computer
Any computer running a Veeam Agent independently of the backup server, for instance one sending its backups straight to a Veeam repository by itself. The console lists these in a predefined group called Unmanaged, from where they can be moved into a protection group of your choosing.
- Veeam Agent for IBM AIX
Protects computers running IBM AIX. Paired with the Solaris agent it makes up Veeam Agent for Unix, and the backup server can manage it via protection groups.
- Veeam Agent for Mac
The Veeam Agent for protecting macOS desktops and servers. When managed, it is installed only from setup files the backup server generates, as a pre-installed agent.
- Veeam Agent for Oracle Solaris
Protects Oracle Solaris machines. Paired with its IBM AIX counterpart, this agent makes up Veeam Agent for Unix; the Veeam Deployment Kit can't be used with it.
- Veeam Deployment Kit
A package that lets Windows managed servers and Veeam Agent computers authenticate with certificates rather than a user name and password. Persistent agent components depend on it, and Veeam Infrastructure Appliance ships with it already installed.
