Terms in this definition
- WHERE
Limits a SELECT, UPDATE or DELETE to just the rows meeting a condition. Omit it, and the statement hits every row.
- Agents (classic) API
First-generation Foundry Agent Service API, based on threads, messages and runs. It is deprecated, replaced by conversations and responses, and retires on 31 March 2027.
- Workspace
Teams in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric collaborate in this folder-style container, which groups items such as reports, semantic models and lakehouses, controls who can access them and is assigned a capacity.
- Scope
Where an access or policy assignment takes effect. It can be set on a single resource, a resource group, a subscription or a management group, and settings flow down from higher levels.
- KQL
Kusto Query Language, used read-only to query Azure Data Explorer, Log Analytics and Microsoft Sentinel; log alert rules are written in it too.
- Standard deployment type
A Foundry deployment type billed per token that keeps processing of prompts and responses inside the Azure geography of the resource, meeting data residency needs at lower volumes.
Related terms
- Advanced Audit Policy Configuration
Holds fine-grained audit subcategories (Audit Credential Validation, for instance) in Group Policy, superseding the nine basic categories.
- Audit: Force audit policy subcategory settings
Makes advanced audit subcategories win over the basic categories, avoiding conflicts between the two; a security option.
- Auto date/time
With this Power BI Desktop option switched on, each date column in an Import table gets its own concealed date table, unless the column sits on a relationship's many side. That suits basic models, yet it inflates model size and prevents one shared date table from filtering several fact tables.
- Azure Cache for Redis
Managed in-memory cache placed close to an application for session state and cache-aside query results. It is being retired (Enterprise on 31 March 2027; Basic, Standard and Premium on 30 September 2028), so Azure Managed Redis is the choice for new designs.
- Azure Container Registry SKUs
Azure Container Registry comes in Basic, Standard and Premium. Every tier includes ACR Tasks and the admin user; private endpoints, content trust, connected registries and dedicated data endpoints are Premium-only.
- Azure DDoS Protection
Azure defence for public IP addresses against volumetric and protocol-level DDoS attacks. Paid tiers (DDoS Network Protection and DDoS IP Protection) build on the basic infrastructure protection that comes free.
- Azure DevOps security group
Groups like Readers, Contributors, Project Administrators and Project Collection Administrators that hand out permissions in Azure DevOps. Which features someone can use is decided separately by their access level: Stakeholder, Basic or Basic + Test Plans.
- Azure Functions Dedicated plan
Running Functions on an App Service plan. Executions have no time limit, and from the Basic tier upwards apps can integrate with a VNet.
