Terms in this definition
- Endorsement
Marks a Fabric or Power BI item as trustworthy. Promoted is open to anyone with write permission, Certified is limited to reviewers chosen by a Fabric admin, and Master data, reserved for data items, to specified users. Endorsed items rise to the top of certain lists.
- Promoted
Anyone who can write to a Fabric or Power BI item (dashboards excepted) can endorse it this way to signal it is ready to share and reuse. Certified and Master data, by contrast, require reviewers that a Fabric administrator has authorised.
Related terms
- Certified visual
A custom visual on AppSource that the Power BI team has code-reviewed and tested, including confirming it makes no calls to external services. Certified visuals are included when reports are exported to PowerPoint or sent in email subscriptions.
- Custom visual
A chart or other visual added to Power BI from outside its built-in set, whether from AppSource, a company store or a .pbiviz file. Administrators can roll out visuals for everyone in the organisation or limit users to certified ones.
- ENS
The Esquema Nacional de Seguridad sets security requirements for Spanish public-sector information systems. Microsoft's cloud services are certified against it, and the audit reports can be downloaded from the Service Trust Portal.
- Semantic model discoverability
Provided discovery tenant settings allow it, people lacking access can spot promoted or certified semantic models through OneLake catalog search and ask for Build permission. This grants nothing by itself; it is not a security control.
- Supervisor Services
Operators for Kubernetes, certified by VMware for vSphere, that run on the Supervisor and give DevOps teams IaaS components and partner offerings, such as Velero, MinIO, Harbor or VKS, to use inside their namespaces.
- System tags
Governed tags that Azure Databricks defines in advance, for example
system.certification_statuswith valuescertifiedordeprecated, and theclass.*classification tags. Their keys and values are fixed, though who can apply them can be controlled.
