Terms in this definition
- Veeam Infrastructure Appliance
A hardened, minimal Linux (JeOS) ISO for running backup proxies, repositories and hardened repositories. It connects to a backup server but does not host one.
- Virtual machines
Infrastructure-as-a-service compute giving complete control of the operating system, making it a fit for lift-and-shift moves and for software relying on OS-level pieces like COM.
- CRUD
Shorthand for create, read, update and delete, the four basic things you do with data. Data-plane roles in Azure Cosmos DB, for instance, authorise those operations on items.
- VeeamZIP
A one-off, job-free backup of one or several VMs. It always creates a self-contained VBK that stands alone as a restore point, and it can't be sent to a Veeam Cloud Connect repository.
- RESTORE
Puts a Delta table back to how it was at an older point, picked by
TO VERSION AS OForTO TIMESTAMP AS OF. You needMODIFY, and onceVACUUMhas cleared the old files it can't succeed.
Related terms
- OLVM
An oVirt-based virtualisation platform. Like Red Hat Virtualization, Veeam supports it through oVirt KVM, and can restore workloads into either.
- Red Hat Virtualization
Red Hat's virtualisation platform based on KVM, covered by the same plug-in used for Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager and oVirt KVM. As with all plug-in workloads, application-aware processing is not available.
