Terms in this definition
- Virtual machines
Infrastructure-as-a-service compute giving complete control of the operating system, making it a fit for lift-and-shift moves and for software relying on OS-level pieces like COM.
- Recovery point
Point-in-time copy of backed-up data. One exists only where a backup actually ran, and it counts once even if several retention tiers apply to it.
- Veeam Cloud Connect
Lets a customer (tenant) keep an off-site copy with a service provider, either storing backups in the provider's repositories or running replicas on its hosts, all through a cloud gateway.
- Repository
A group of images or artefacts in a container registry that share one name and differ by tag. Names can include slash-separated namespaces, but every repository is handled separately.
Related terms

A virtualisation platform built on KVM. Veeam Backup & Replication supports it via a plug-in, which can back up its VMs, create VeeamZIP copies and restore them.
- Veeam Plug-in for VMware vSphere Client
Brings Veeam information into the vSphere Client, including job outcomes, statistics and VMs left unprotected, and lets admins launch VeeamZIP or Quick Backup there. It is rolled out from Enterprise Manager.
