Deployment pipelines link an item in one stage to its counterpart in the next. Deploying overwrites a linked item, but an unlinked item that just shares its name gets copied across as a duplicate.

Terms in this definition
- Model deployment
Inside a resource, each deployment is a named copy of a Foundry model with its own TPM quota and deployment type. Requests identify the model by this deployment name.
- NEXT
Restricted to visual calculations, this DAX function reads the value one step further along an axis of the visual matrix; writing OFFSET with 1 gives the same result.
Related terms
- Agent
A specialised form of Microsoft Copilot set up for one particular job, pairing instructions with knowledge and skills. You can create one in Copilot Studio, SharePoint or Agent Builder, and administrators control them from the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- AI agent
Software pairing a generative model with tools, enabling it to understand what is asked, converse and act to reach a goal.
- ALM
Short for application lifecycle management, the practice of promoting content from development to test to production. Fabric delivers it by pairing Git integration (the CI part) with deployment pipelines (the CD part).
- Assignment overrides
An optional property on a policy assignment that alters a definition's effect, or the version of a built-in definition, without touching the definition itself. Selectors can narrow where an override applies, and pairing it with resource selectors supports safe, staged rollout.
- AzureFrontDoor.Backend
Service tag for the IP addresses Front Door uses when contacting origins. Pairing it with a filter on the X-Azure-FDID header in an access restriction ensures only your own Front Door instance gets through.
- CROSSJOIN
A DAX function returning every possible pairing of rows across the tables you supply (their Cartesian product). No two of those tables may share a column name.
- Foundry guardrail
In Microsoft Foundry, a named set of controls, each pairing a risk with an intervention point and an action, that classifies prompts and completions for harms like hate and fairness, sexual, violence and self-harm, then blocks or annotates them. Formerly content filters; an agent's guardrail entirely replaces its model deployment's.
- Hard match
When syncing, an on-premises object is first paired with one already in the cloud using sourceAnchor and immutableId. Only when that pairing doesn't work does sync fall back to a soft match on UPN or primary SMTP address.
