Each book explains Sensitive information type in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- DEFINE
An optional keyword at the start of a DAX query, placed before the first EVALUATE, for declaring things such as measures and variables that exist only for that query. A measure declared this way replaces a model measure with the same name just while the query runs.
Related terms
- Character proximity
Sets how near, measured in characters, corroborating evidence must sit to the main element before a sensitive information type pattern counts as matched. It can instead allow that evidence anywhere in the document.
- Checksum
Confirms that a check digit in text found by a custom sensitive information type's regex is correct, calculated from weights and a mod value. The advanced version can only be set up in PowerShell XML.
- Confidence level
How much supporting evidence backs a sensitive information type match, rated low (65), medium (75) or high (85). Choosing a lower level also picks up all matches at higher levels, giving fewer missed items but more false positives.
- Data explorer
Lists, in Microsoft Purview, every item currently tagged with a sensitivity or retention label or containing a sensitive information type, together with where it sits. To open those items, an admin needs membership of two role groups: List viewer and Content viewer.
- Date validator
A validator that a custom sensitive information type's regex can use to make sure a date within the matched text is a real date in the selected format.
- Document fingerprinting
Lets Purview treat a standard template or form as its own sensitive information type. Documents built from that template can then be picked up by policies.
- Exact data match
A custom kind of sensitive information type that looks up the real values held in a table your organisation supplies, such as a customer list, rather than matching a generic pattern. Data loss prevention can then flag only those precise records.
- IBAN
A standard way of writing bank account numbers that starts with a country code and check digits. Microsoft Purview's ready-made sensitive information type for it verifies those check digits.
