A single file holding the complete contents of an optical disc, commonly used as installation media. For ESX, a customised ISO can bundle extra drivers, asynchronous patches or a server vendor's add-on on top of the base image.

The two ways ARM can deploy: Incremental, the default, creates or updates what the template lists and ignores everything else; Complete also removes resource group contents absent from the template.
- ESX
VMware's bare-metal hypervisor, installed on each host in a VCF fleet. Up to version 9.0 it was known as ESXi.
