PKCS #12 file, protected by a password, bundling a certificate with its private key and chain. App Service accepts no other format for private certificate uploads, and it is used to install client certificates for certificate-based point-to-site VPN.

Terms in this definition
- PKCS
With this Intune certificate profile, the Certificate Connector asks the CA for a certificate and hands it, private key included, to each user or device individually. Its imported variant pushes an existing PFX instead, as is common for S/MIME.
- Certificate
Key Vault object holding an X.509 certificate, whose associated key and secret are managed alongside it.
- Index field attributes
Settings applied to each field in an Azure AI Search index:
searchablefor full text, retrievableto return it,filterablefor exact-match$filter,sortable,facetablefor counts, andkeyfor the unique document ID. - App Service
Managed PaaS hosting for web apps and Web App for Containers, run in a sandbox without OS access. Deployment slots and autoscale start at the Standard tier.
- FORMAT
A DAX function that turns a value into text according to a format string, for instance "MMMM" to show a month's name. Since the output is text, numeric operations can't use it, and dynamic format strings were introduced to get around that.
- Point-to-site VPN
Connection type in which single client machines, rather than whole sites, tunnel into an Azure virtual network gateway. App Service gateway-required VNet integration relies on it too.
Related terms
- PEM
Text certificate format encoded in Base64. Key Vault accepts it for import, but App Service does not, so it must first be converted to PFX.
