Key-value metadata on tables and views, case-sensitive, from users or the system. Add them via TBLPROPERTIES or ALTER TABLE ... SET TBLPROPERTIES, remove them via UNSET TBLPROPERTIES; Delta reads some, like delta.logRetentionDuration, as configuration.
Also called TBLPROPERTIES.

Each book explains Table properties in context, with comparison tables and the common traps.
Terms in this definition
- Metadata
Describes data rather than being the data itself, for instance how a file is laid out or what rows each chunk contains, so tools can read things efficiently.
- Chat message roles
Labels on chat messages: instructions go under system, the person's input under user, the model's previous answers under assistant, and results returned by a called tool under tool (or function).
- Architecture Definition Document
A key deliverable bringing together the main architecture artifacts across the four domains for every relevant state: baseline, transition and target. It sets out, in qualitative terms, what the architect intends.
- Event
Table in Log Analytics where entries from Windows event logs are kept.
- Set
Secret permission in Key Vault for writing secrets; some older material refers to it as Create.
- LIKE
Compares strings with a pattern that can contain the % and _ wildcards. Because it only understands character patterns, searching big volumes of text this way is much slower than using full-text search.

- Table options
Set only at creation with
OPTIONS, these key-value storage settings can't be altered or dropped afterwards; on Delta tables they also show up among the table properties.
