Terms in this definition
- IDENTITY
A column property, written IDENTITY(seed, increment), that gives each new row the next number in a rising sequence. SCOPE_IDENTITY reports the latest value created in the current scope, and a rolled-back transaction still uses up the numbers it took.
- organization
VCF Automation's top-level tenant, completely isolated, owning separate users, networks and resources. Three kinds exist: All Apps, VM Apps and Provider Consumption.
- Microsoft 365
Formerly Office 365, Microsoft's software-as-a-service productivity suite. A Microsoft Entra tenant provides its identity, and its data is not governed by Azure RBAC.
Related terms
- AD
Short for Active Directory, the directory service built into Windows Server (AD DS). Entra Connect synchronises on-premises forests to Microsoft Entra ID.
- Administrative units
Containers in Microsoft Entra ID that limit the reach of directory administrators to particular users, groups or devices. They are neither Azure Policy scopes nor cost groupings.
- AIProjectClient
Starting object of the Microsoft Foundry SDK, constructed from the project endpoint plus a Microsoft Entra credential like DefaultAzureCredential. Because only Entra ID authentication is supported, no project key or SAS exists.
- API key (Foundry resource key)
Key generated alongside an Azure OpenAI or Foundry Tools resource and supplied through the api-key header. It is used only when keyless authentication with Microsoft Entra ID cannot be.
- App governance
Keeps watch over OAuth apps registered in Microsoft Entra ID, Google or Salesforce on behalf of Defender for Cloud Apps: it reports what permissions and data each app uses, and flags or limits those that look dangerous.
- App registration
Object in Microsoft Entra ID describing an app's identity, the permissions it needs and which account types it supports; multi-tenant apps and OpenID Connect sign-in depend on it.
- App Service Authentication
Code-free sign-in feature of App Service, also called Easy Auth, supporting Microsoft Entra ID along with other identity providers.
- Automatic enrollment
With Microsoft Entra ID P1 or P2, Intune can enrol a Windows device as soon as a user in the MDM user scope joins or registers it with Entra ID, with no extra steps.
